30 Days of The West Wing: Day 18
Favourite kiss: Josh and Amy, Jefferson Lives
This might be a surprise considering Day 17’s answer, but the toss up here was actually between this kiss and the H. Con 172 kiss. This one is like a vicarious daydream though, kissing Joshua Lyman in his office. Dirty, dirty thoughts. I mean, unff. This scene is really HAWTTTTT. But, I did notice when researching my answer on this that a lot of Josh’s kisses involve him being told to shut up. That amused me. I love the H. Con kiss as well because of the romanticism of the snow, and the speech Josh gives Amy. It’s scenes like this that make me question some of the Josh and Donna fanfics or Wells writing, because he’s not quite as unromantic as is suggested at times. I also really love The Two Bartlets kiss, for the gesture that precedes it. At this point in the story arc, I obviously wished it was Donna and there was sex, considering the season four build up and Commencement Amy/Donna scenes, but I’m happy to take what I can get. And, let me just say again, unfff!

“I studied a lot in school. I studied hard in high school and at Harvard and at law school. My IQ doesn’t break the bank and I wanted to do this, so I studied all the time. And, I missed something or it’s like I skipped a year because I never learned what you do after you think you like somebody, what you do next. And everybody did learn, a lot of other people anyway…”

“Think government isn’t about you? How many of you have student loans to pay? How many have credit card debt? How many want clean air and clean water and civil liberties? How many want jobs? How many want kids? How many want their kids to go to good schools and walk on safe streets? Decisions are made by those who show up. You gotta rock the vote!”

Definitely. Josh loves it too! He loves to be teased by the women in his life. I never enjoy a scene more than when Josh is surrounded by women who are utterly bantering him speechless. It’s the greatest. Especially when penned by Mr Sorkin.
Josh definitely deserves the heat when it comes to Donna’s heartache. I’m not saying he doesn’t love her deeply, and value her heart above all others including his own. But he is useless at managing his feelings and their working relationship. And that’s where the damage is. Just because Amy’s not the one who he wanted, doesn’t mean she got hurt any less - while I would argue her feelings for Josh are not as strong as Donna’s, she did have feelings for Josh and they very much blew up in her face. She was never unforgivably cruel, in my opinion.
The only time I seriously disliked the gal was, like I say, when she turned psycho-brat over marriage incentives. Which may be surprising, because I agree with her politics there. But then again, so does Josh! It’s just compromise.

Oh, yeah! I get what you mean. But I think it might just be her prying about the progression between Josh and Donna. Because she very much includes Donna in that conversation, giving them both the opportunity to tell her about their relationship. Perhaps she was just trying to get it out of them.
I don’t know. Like I say, I like Amy a lot but I don’t agree with everything she does and says. Trust me, I could have hit her round the head with a frying pan when she went psycho-brat in We Killed Yamamoto. Donna will always be the one I defend endlessly. But I think it’s important to remember how much Amy was strung along and messed around by Josh. And that’s particularly significant for a character who proudly parades her autonomy and fights her feminist causes, to have a blind spot for my little Lemon Lyman.
