THE OFFICE’S American star John Krasinski says that being married to English actress Emily Blunt has turned him into a Downton Abbey fan.

The actor, who plays Jim Halpert in the US version of the cult comedy, told ITV1’s Daybreak: “It is more of a cultural study than it is a television show — because that is exactly how the Brits are in real life, right? I think I was always secretly an Anglophile.

“Now that I am married to a Brit, it is coming out more and more.”

JOHN KRASINSKI IS A FLAWLESS HUMAN BEING.

How does Maggie Smith steal everything? And, when I say everything, I don’t mean things that are otherwise mediocre. I’m talking about momentous events in film and television pop culture.

As she did with the Harry Potter finale, the Dowager Countess of Downton Abbey utterly overshadowed everything else. And, simply from a simple, “Do you promise?”

Greatest.

It was closely followed in greatness by:

  • The moment the fist of Matthew Crawley hit the despicable face of our resident baddie, Carlisle.
  • The moment the hand of Matthew Crawley took Lady Mary’s, as he took to his knee in the snow.

Just read Downton Abbey spoilers. It’s gonna happen. HAPPEN SOMETIME. Maybe this time I’ll go away from that damn show with a smile on my face.

5 Things I Love About: Lady Mary Crawley

  1. Her composure, except when I just want her to overtly flail all over Matthew.
  2. Whenever she starts a sentence with “Oh, *someone’s name*”, like “Oh, Granny…” or “Oh, Matthew…”
  3. The way she doesn’t even pretend to like her own fiance.
  4. Her love of Matthew.
  5. The evolution of her relationship with Edith.
